The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (P.L. 111 148), signed by the President on March 23, 2010, as amended by the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (P.L. 111 152) and signed by the President on March 30, 2010, will implement fundamental health care reforms and require most of the 32 million uninsured individuals to obtain health care coverage or pay penalties.
